An offshore oil rig has working systems that typically produce around-the-clock and should not be shut down due to minor electrical faults. Using ungrounded systems (floating systems) with appropriate monitoring devices from Bender ISOMETER® can guarantee this. Personnel protection must also be ensured in the accommodation and supply units. This involves monitoring with RCMS residual current systems, which allow the fastest possible warning and shutdown. All system data can be transferred to a central control point.
Increasing installation health and safety requirements require comprehensive measures to protect people and equipment against possible hazards. Bender systems enable fast localization and elimination of insulation faults, even during operation with disconnection of the system not required. In addition, Bender can provide residual current monitoring to increase system availability and reduce costs, with continuous monitoring of circuits for fault, residual, operating, and stray currents.
Increasing demands are placed on communication capability, data transparency and flexibility, and the use of modern communication technologies has become essential in the automation of electrical installations. Operating alarm and fault messages via these technologies substantially increases the transparency of power supply systems and also allows a fast reaction to critical operating states. Early information about the location and cause of faults allows cost-effective deployment of service personnel and can avoid equipment failure or damage to expensive devices. Bender monitoring systems offer seamless communication via these technologies.
A Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO) is a ship used to extract, store, and offload petroleum and natural gas. In offshore operations, FPSOs remove the need to construct a complicated, expensive pipeline infrastructure for the extraction site. Bender kits out these ships with the appropriate ISOMETER® technology to ensure maximum safety. This technology provides optimized maintenance through early detection and reporting of insulation deterioration and automatic localization of faulty current paths. In addition, early detection of gradually developing insulation faults increases fire protection while avoiding unplanned system shutdowns and improving economic efficiency and operational reliability.
Bender solutions are an effective means of damage prevention. They enable increased productivity and efficient maintenance, reducing costs considerably. Our wide range of products allows the implementation of individual safety solutions and safeguards your investment.
