What has your career with Bender looked like?

My career with Bender has been quite the journey. I joined Bender UK in the year 2000 and was the first employee. I reported to John Murray who was the managing director at the time. I joined as an applications engineer so I had a very good start in the company, learned a lot about the technology and more about the customers by interacting with them. I was able to help the customers solve their problems and see their challenges.

Eventually in 2016 I got the opportunity to move to the United States with my family and join Bender Inc. I was appointed as the CEO of Bender Inc. in May of 2016. It came with additional responsibilities - I was appointed Vice President of the Americas region. Meeting with the teams we have in Canada, Mexico, the Latam region, and our distribution networks, I had the opportunity to help support the teams and grow and push our technology into new regions and customers.

What has been the highlight of your career?

The highlight of my career is a difficult question to answer since there have been so many memorable moments. I think, on reflection, being given the opportunity to lead Bender UK as I was given in 2010 allowed me to build a talented and ambitious group of people into an excellent team. We grew the business so successfully and established an organization that was sustainable for the future. Ultimately I was able to pass on the leadership title to my colleague, Gareth Brunton, and allowed him to lead the company forward as I moved to the US. This is something I am very proud of.

Where do you see Bender’s future going?

I think the journey for the past 75 years for Bender has been exceptional. We have built a reputation as the electrical safety expert and play strongly in many different markets and have become renown for our innovation and the quality of our products. I think the future and looking towards the next 75 years is even more exciting. We have a hugely motivated team and I think the markets and opportunities for Bender have never been greater and are growing. I expect to see huge success for the company for the next 75 years. I think the team, leadership, and technology we have is well placed for a phenomenal and successful next chapter of Bender’s history.
